Life Skills Courses and Services

Through our staff and support from area agencies and volunteers, we offer on-site classes and individual coaching to improve opportunities for member economic independence, help members initiate and maintain a clean and sober life, and improve communication skills.

Photography Class (seasonal/ administered by life skills coordinator)
This is an introduction to photography. Class photographs are often displayed throughout the Ministry’s building.

Health Education (seasonal series of classes/administered by community educators)
Topics include heat-stroke prevention, general first aid, dental hygiene, seizures, diabetes and hypertension.

Writing Class (weekly/administered by community volunteer)
Participants learn to express themselves through writing, with encouragement and support of the instructor and class participants.

Drug and Alcohol Dependency Class (weekly/administered by Jim Gilmore Jr. Community Healing Center representative)
Information and education are provided about substance abuse and related topics.

Street Smarts/Support Group (weekly/administered by Ministry with Community outreach worker)
Topics include mental health and substance abuse. Community resources and group support are also available. 

Yoga Class (seasonal/administered by local yoga instructors)
This is an introduction to chair yoga.
